Shaun is in his early 50s and did his undergraduate studies in combined sciences in Wales. Working first as a teacher and then training for the ministry, he served as a Methodist Minister in Rochdale and Harrogate before coming to Durham.
His wife, Jane, is an optometrist and they have two children who will be at university this year.
